University of Twente uses PEAK for model vulcanization

The faculty of Engineering Technology at the University of Twente has set its research objectives on following model reactions and model vulcanization (vulcanization being the chemical process of hardening rubber). In order to achieve those objectives the university have chosen PEAK gas generators to help them with their analysis.

A. van Swaaij, a technician within the faculty, tells us about he and his team’s experience with PEAK's zero air gas generator and hydrogen gas generator.

Typically what is the focus of your GC analysis - what sort of applications?

“Follow model reactions and model vulcanization.”

What PEAK Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what GC instruments do they supply?

“A Precision zero air 1.5L gas generator & a Precision 100cc hydrogen gas generator.”

What prompted you to choose PEAK generators and how long have you used them?

“GC supplier Shimadzu prompted us. We’ve been using the PEAK gas generators for 2 years.”

What has been the key benefit of deploying PEAK generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?

“With PEAK we avoided the cost of constructing expensive piping to connect our gas supply. PEAK gas generators are very convenient - they just need to be plugged in and that’s it.”

How would you describe your purchasing experience with PEAK in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?

“Perfect.”

Have you ever had a site visit from a PEAK engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?

“Yes, we have. We reported a leakage once and we received service the next day.”

Would you recommend PEAK Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?

“Yes, perfect gas generator service. I think best service we have compared to other lab equipment!”

Precision series

The University of Twente has trusted PEAK to provide gas to their instruments to streamline their workflow. The faculty of Engineering Technology own a Precision Zero air 1.5L gas generator and a Precision 100cc Hydrogen gas generator which they have been using for over 2 years now to carry out vulcanization. A. van Swaaij has said they were prompted to choose a PEAK hydrogen gas generator by their GC instrument supplier.

The Precision series by PEAK combine robustness and reliability and come in a stackable and modular design maximizing the use of valuable laboratory space. They offer nitrogen, hydrogen, zero air and compressed air at various flow rates. Precision gas generators provide high purity (up to 99.9999%) and require very low maintenance in order to function. Providing a complete solution for carrier gas, make up gas, reference gas, sample preparation and as flame support or fuel gases, the Precision series also offer various other perks for the laboratory.

One of the benefits that influenced the University of Twente to choose PEAK was the convenience our Precision generators offer. With a Peak gas generators the university avoided the need to install costly piping for their gas supply. PEAK hydrogen gas generators are also more convenient than gas cylinders, which need to be periodically changed and moved around which can lead to workplace injury and require health & safety training for laboratory workers in many cases . By choosing hassle-free PEAK gas generators you can easily spare your lab this unnecessary risk.

Not only are PEAK gas generators convenient but they are also the safest option for delivering gas in your lab. As cylinders have the potential to release thousands of litres of gas under very high pressure in the lab it makes them a high risk to operate as if this gas is released the cylinder can be dangerously propelled throughout the facility and the quick release can also be an asphyxiation risk due to displacing oxygen in air. PEAK gas generators provide a constant supply of gas for lab applications without risking the safety for lab users with low volume of gas stored as gas is generated on demand and safety features are installed as standard.

A. van Swaaij also describes the gas generator service his team has received from PEAK as “perfect”. One of our field service engineers had arrived on site and had serviced their generator only a day after A. van Swaaij had reported an issue, ensuring downtime was kept to an absolute minimum. With PEAK we see ourselves as ‘your local gas generation partner’ and our brand promise is to take due care of your laboratory gas supply.

We set ourselves apart from the competition by the gas generator service we provide to our customers in the form of [PEAK Protected] generator care and we strive to be the best. Our field service engineers are located across over 20 countries around the globe ready to provide you assistance when needed.

By offering different gas generator service plans we try to tailor our service to suit the individual needs of our customers, be it for vulcanization or any other analysis. A. van Swaaij describes [PEAK Protected] as the best service that his lab has ever received and he’s not alone, read more independent reviews from labs just like yours on SelectScience here.

The University of Twente has benefited greatly from PEAK in terms of saving the cost of  installing expensive and inconvenient dewars and bulk supply in order to perform vulcanization. Furthermore, PEAK gas generators are providing not only a convenient but also much safer gas supply solution than the alternative gas supply methods on the market. Supported by the exceptional [PEAK Protected] service plans which ensure you fast and efficient gas generator service when needed, you can be safe in the knowledge that you have a lab gas supply partner you can rely on.
