Imperial College London is a worthy competitor of some of the world’s top universities. It is the only university in the UK that is focused wholly on science, engineering, medicine and business. The mass spectrometry facility at Imperial College delivers quality mass spectrometry research and gives scientists access to instrumentation for Proteomics and Glycomics. They also offer advice and guidance on matters of mass spectrometry, particularly for resolving biopolymer structural problems.
We spoke to Mr Mark Bennett, MS Facility Manager, who tells us why he has always trusted in Peak.
Typically what is the focus of your LC-MS analysis - what sort of applications?
“We focus on quantitative MRM based analysis, for example peptides and small molecules.”
What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what LC-MS instruments do they supply?
“We currently have the Genius 3031 supplying Sciex 6500 QTrap in our lab.”
What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used it?
“When we purchased a Sciex MS we bundled it with a Genius 3031.”
What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?
“We have not used another gas source – we have always used Peak gas generators.”
How would you describe your purchasing experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?
“Our purchasing experience was very positive. It was well organised.”
Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?
“As a loyal customer of Peak for over 15 years, we’ve had quite a few site visits. The service engineers are knowledgeable and do a great job.”
Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?
"Yes, Peak are a reliable company. The early 3031 model had a few issues at first but, it has since advanced and Peak have been consistent with making sure our unit is working efficiently."
Imperial College London have streamlined their workflow, and minimized stress and costs for the last 15 years with Peak gas generators. Whilst Mr Bennet had found some troubles initially with his Genius 3031, Peak has ensured that these issues were resolved swiftly and satisfactorily, by Peak's highly skilled in-house team of engineers and carried out by Peak's dedicated service engineers. When you buy a generator from Peak Scientific, this begins a lasting relationship throughout the generators lifespan. The service part of our business comes in the form of [Peak Protected].
