Swansea University: Environmental analysis with a Peak N2 generator

Name: Dr Chedly Tizaoui

Job Role: Associate Professor

Company: Swansea University (UK)

Environmental analysis using a Peak N2 gas generator

Dr. Chedly works as an Associate Professor for Swansea University and his research focuses on the development of novel water and wastewater treatment technologies based on oxidation and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). This includes ozonation, UV radiation, photocatalysis and catalytic processes as means to eradicate potentially hazardous contaminants.

Dr. Chedly’s LC-MS analysis is supported by a Peak Genius NM32LA nitrogen gas generator and in this user story he explains how having a gas generator in his lab has provided him, and his lab, peace of mind.

Typically, what is the focus of your LC-MS analysis - what sort of applications?

“Environmental analysis – with a focus on the development of novel water and wastewater treatment technologies.”

What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what LC-MS instruments do they supply?

“Our LC-MS system is coupled to a Genius NM32LA nitrogen gas generator.”

What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used them?

“I researched the company online and I was aware of Peak and its product offering as I am a member of their LinkedIn community.”

What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?

“I now no longer require gas cylinders.”

How would you describe your purchasing experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?

“Overall, good it was a swift transaction.”

Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?

“Yes. The engineer visit was delayed because there was no problem with the generator. The visit was to do the maintenance on the generator.”

Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?

“Yes. Peace of mind for my lab gas supply.”

Dr. Chedly found that switching over from traditional gas meant peace of mind for his lab as their gas generator produces gas on demand. This means that he will not run out of gas during analysis and removes any hassle associated with ordering cylinders and changing over when the bottles run out.

The reliability of Peak’s as generator is also highlighted by the postponement of the generator’s maintenance. The high performance of Peak’s gas generators means they can be trusted to provide a consistent and constant source of gas for laboratory instruments. The maintenance provided by Peak is vital to the continued high performance of the generator so whilst some leeway can be afforded in maintaining the equipment, it is important to protect your generator and your analysis by ensuring maintenance is performed.

Peak’s Genius NM32LA nitrogen gas generator is a compressor based generator which eliminates the need for an external air supply. It provides a consistent flow and purity of nitrogen at up to 32L/min and with many thousands in the field it is the proven and reliable nitrogen generator of choice in countless laboratories across the world.
