Steno Diabetes Center - Metabolomics analysis with the Genius Series

Peak Scientific's quality, reliability and great customer service has prompted Steno to choose Peak gas generators for their labs.

For more than 84 years Steno Diabetes Center has been run as a hospital, specialised in patient care, research, and prevention of diabetes, and in education of healthcare professionals within diabetes. Their ambition is to improve the entire field within diabetes in the Capital Region, but also to contribute with inspiration and new knowledge nationally and internationally.

Linda Ahonen, a research analytical chemist at Steno, tells us more about her experience with using Peak Scientific's generators.

Typically what is the focus of your GC analysis - what sort of applications?

Metabolomics of polar metabolites.

What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what GC instruments do they supply?

We have 2 Genius 3010, 1 Genius 1022 and 1 Genius 1052. Only the Genius 1052 supplies a GC, which is a GCxGC-TOFMS from LECO.

What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used them?

Originally the idea came from Agilent technologies, who recommended a Peak generator to supply their Q-TOF instrument. We have been using these since 2014.

What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?

Actually, I have previously been using gaseous nitrogen in lines from a big liquid nitrogen tank outdoors. Therefore, I don't really have much to compare to.

How would you describe your purchasing experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?

Really, really good!

Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?

Yes, and the support has always been really good and nicely adapted to our needs as a customer. Very well done!

Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?

Yes the quality of gas, the reliable function of the generators and the very, very nice customer service would be the main reasons for my recommendation.

Steno Diabetes Center has had a very positive experience with Peak over the years. Their labs use 4 Peak Genius generators to supply on demand nitrogen gas in order to study the metabolomics of polar metabolites. According to Linda Ahonen, the support provided by Peak has always been exceptional and adapted to Steno's specific customer needs. The quality and reliability of our gas generators along with the briliant customer and support service has prompted Steno Diabetes Center to entrust Peak with their GC analysis.
