Modern Slavery Statement

This statement is made pursuant to s.54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

This statement sets out the steps that PEAK Scientific Instruments has undertaken, and is continuing to take, to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chain. PEAK Scientific Instruments has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We are committed to acting in an ethical manner, with integrity and transparency in all business dealings. We are committed to creating effective systems and have controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.

Our Organization

PEAK Scientific Instruments is a dynamic, fast growing, award-winning manufacturer and designer of high-purity hydrogen, zero air and nitrogen gas generators supplying the life sciences industry.

All PEAK Scientific products are designed, manufactured and exported from our factory in Inchinnan, Scotland. PEAK Scientific has grown year on year, with an established global sales base, and we export to over 125 countries worldwide.

Our Policies

We operate a number of internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner.

These include:

• Anti-slavery Policy
• Recruitment Policy
• Whistleblowing Policy
• Business Ethics Policy

Our Suppliers

PEAK Scientific Instruments conduct due diligence on all suppliers before allowing suppliers into our supply chain.

Due diligence includes regular meetings with partners and stakeholders, and online research to ensure that the organisation has never been convicted of offences relating to modern slavery. In  addition, we conduct audits which include a review of working conditions to ensure that suppliers have their own clearly defined ethical working practices including suitable anti‐slavery and human trafficking policies and processes within their businesses and confirmation that they comply with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Our anti-slavery policy forms part of our contract with all suppliers and they are required to confirm that no part of their business operations contradicts this policy.

In addition to the above, as part of our contract with suppliers, we require they confirm to us that:

1. They have taken steps to eradicate modern slavery within their business.
2. They hold their own suppliers to account over modern slavery.
3. They pay their employees at least the national minimum wage - for UK-based suppliers.
4. They pay their employees any prevailing minimum wage applicable within their country of operations. – for international suppliers.
5. We may terminate the contract at any time should any instances of modern slavery come to light.

Training

We conduct modern slavery training for our procurement staff via the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) and our internal training platform, so that all of our procurement staff are aware of the issues surrounding modern slavery and what to do if they suspect that it is taking place within our supply chain.

Our Performance Indicators

We will know the effectiveness of the steps that we are taking to ensure that slavery and /or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain if reports are received from employees, the public, or law enforcement agencies to indicate that modern slavery practices have been identified.

The statement has been reviewed and approved by Peak Scientific CEO in accordance with the
requirements of section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, which applies to PEAK Scientific for the financial year ending 31st March 2022.
