The benefits of NM32LA for Athlone Institute of Technology

Name: Jim Roche

Job Title: Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Sciences

Company: Athlone Institute of Technology (Ireland)

Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Jim Roche based at  Athlone Institute of Technology, field of study involves researching the origins of patent law, the evolution of the patent specification and the ruggedness of permissible categories of claims for genomic medicines, advanced therapies and theranostics. To perform their analysis, Jim Roche and his team use various analytical techniques and laboratory equipment. In this latest user story Jim explains how having an NM32LA nitrogen gas generator in his lab has benefited his analysis.

Typically, what is the focus of your LCMS analysis - what sort of applications?

“My research is primarily focused on the pharmaceutical sector.”

What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what LCMS instruments do they supply?

“I have an NM32LA nitrogen gas generator in my lab that feeds gas to my LC-MS instrument.”

What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used them?

“I decided to purchase a gas generator form Peak Scientific as I had seen various advertising campaigns they had used in various publications and also through word of mouth in the scientific industry.”

What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?

“One of the benefits I have noticed is the reduced noise in my lab since the install of the NM32LA.”

How would you describe your purchasing experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?

“Excellent – the process was handled with ease.”

Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?

“I have not yet received a visit from a Peak Engineer.”

Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?

“To be honest it is a bit early to say, but so far so good.”

The Genius NM32LA uses membrane technology and internal compressors to generate laboratory grade nitrogen on-site and on demand. The NM32LA units are built to last, with minimal maintenance requirements, they have been designed for ease of use and can sit under a standard lab bench, with an integrated internal compressor. The generator is a true standalone solution for supplying carrier gas for mass spectrometers.

Jim commented on the noise reduction in his lab since the installation of the NM32LA – yet another feature of this generator, the compressor is housed in an insulated chamber to reduce noise and vibration. Other key benefits of a gas generator are that gas is supplied on demand, costs are reduced and lab efficiency increased, as there is no more changeover of cylinders required.

The NM32LA has become a proven and reliable on demand nitrogen solution in countless laboratories worldwide. This system’s popularity is underpinned by its compatibility with most mass specs available in the market.
