Precision series improves analysis quality for Arizona testing laboratory
Arizona Facilities Supply (AZFAC), LLC. is a commercial horticulture and biotech company with an in-house chromatography lab located in Scottsdale, Arizona. AZFAC's lab was started with an Agilent 5890 Series II Gas Chromatograph used for the analysis of toxicants and soil fertility. Peak's Precision Hydrogen and Zero Air gas generators enable Kirk Schmitz and his team to efficiently carry out their analyses with consistency.
Typically, what is the focus of your GC analysis - what sort of applications?
"Our lab carries out toxicant, pesticide and microbial analyses. We develop profiles for the different soil amendments we use based on these analyses. This allows employees to make an informed decision about what mediums they are using and testing.”
What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what GC instruments do they supply?
"We have a Precision Hydrogen and Precision Zero Air generator supplying an Agilent 5890 Series II GC. Peak's generators supply the gas needed for all of the analysis carried out in our lab. I started this lab running on Peak's generators with the intention of adding extra instruments in the future."
What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used them?
"We wanted to avoid the hassle and safety hazards associated with storing pressurized gas cylinders. The decision to use a Peak Hydrogen generator over traditional pressurized cylinders allowed us to forego the use of expensive resupply and delivery services as well. The Zero Air generator really improves the quality of the analysis and creates a much cleaner baseline."
What did your previous gas supply solution look like?
"Peak has provided us with a great first experience with gas generators. My previous experiences with gas supplies involved pressurized helium and nitrogen cylinders."
What has been the key benefit of deploying our generators in your own experience?
"Peak's generators have helped maximize the effectiveness of our old Agilent 5890 Series II GC. They have also allowed us the comfort of not having missiles stored in the office! There is a minimized safety risk involved with running gas generators in our lab and we wish to keep things that way."
How would you describe your experience of dealing with Peak Scientific in terms of purchase and support?
"Both the product and service have exceeded our expectations. Working with Peak has been a pleasure all the way from the initial consultation until today! My Peak representative Eric Anderson was extremely helpful in assessing the right solution for our applications and has always been a phone call away."
Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other GC laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?
"I recommend Peak Scientific generators for anyone wanting to begin a GC lab. Their ease of use and small size make them a wise choice. They have alleviated some of our safety and logistical concerns and were a great choice to get our lab off the ground - we had them running efficiently and without trouble from the first day."
The Precision Zero Air has provided higher quality sample runs and analysis for Arizona Facilities Supply's GC, giving the most accurate results for Kirk Schmitz and his team. Furthermore, they improved run performance and an on-site Precision gas generator has made Kirk's lab safer which is one less thing for him and his team to be concerned about when doing their jobs.
