Baruch Institute receives 5 star service from PEAK

The Baruch Institute at Clemson University in Georgetown, South Carolina, addresses critical environmental issues including climate and land-use change, coastal science, water quality and quantity, biodiversity loss, and forest and watershed ecology and management.

Their researchers work both at Hobcaw Barony - a coastal environment which offers a diversity of ecosystems including estuaries, tidal marshes, and freshwater swamps; coastal forests, and streams and rivers - as well as across the state, nationally, and internationally.

We caught up with Leah Gregory, a Lab Manager at the Baruch Institute, to find out more about their experience with PEAK and their in-house generator.

Typically, what is the focus of your analysis - what sort of applications?

My team focuses on microplastics analysis with LDIR.

What PEAK Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what instruments do they supply?

We have a Nitrogen (Dry Air) for an Agilent LDIR 8700.

What prompted you to choose a PEAK generator for your lab and how long have you used it?

Our Fisher Scientific rep suggested PEAK and we have had our system for almost a year now.

What has been the key benefit of deploying PEAK generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?

We needed 10L/min  of nitrogen so tanks were just not an option for us.

How would you describe your PEAK generator purchasing experience in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?

Our PEAK sales rep (Alison McEwan) was very helpful, contacting Agilent to go over spec requirements before making a recommendation while keeping in mind when we needed the generator and our price constraints.

Have you ever had a site visit from a PEAK engineer in relation to your generator, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?

We have had 2 visits, Brock was amazing as was James. Over the phone Bradley has been extremely helpful when we had an issue with pressure changes.

Would you recommend PEAK Scientific generators to other laboratories? If yes, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?

Yes, I would recommend PEAK because hands down the customer service has been great. I have been in research for over 20 years and the one thing that seems to be lacking is customer service after a purchase but not with PEAK, they are quick to respond and realize the importance of keeping lab instrumentation up and running.

At PEAK, we always put the customer at the heart of everything we do. While our generators are designed to make your lab life easier, our team are there to make your life easier if you ever need to have a engineer to visit your lab.

It's this dedication to our customers which drives us to develop the best gas solutions possible and at ASMS 2026 we announced our most advanced nitrogen generator to date - Genius NEO.

After nearly 30 years of delivering nitrogen generators for LC‑MS applications, we went back to the fundamentals of generator design. Rather than incremental change, we set out to address the key challenges of modern laboratories: space constraints, noise limits, sustainability goals, and the demand for higher‑confidence ultra‑trace analysis.

This resulted in a new generation of nitrogen generators that delivers improved purity, lower operational impact, and smarter system control without compromising reliability.

You can register your interest in Genius NEO and be one of the first people to know of any updates before the order book opens.
