The Mass Spectrometry Discussion Group was formed in 1989, to promote and publicize knowledge of mass spectrometry and connected areas. The MSDG is a vital party in the American Chemical Society North Jersey Section. The NJMSDG is the second largest mass spectrometry professional association in the nation behind ASMS and there are around 1,100 member scientists, who are involved in R&D at academic, industrial and governmental laboratories. Areas of interest to the MSDG are; advancement of techniques and instrumentation in mass spectrometry, as well as application of mass spectrometry in biological sciences, pharmaceutical development, environmental testing, and more.
