UWS makes advancements in drug analysis with help of NM32LA
Charles McGuinness, Senior Analytical Technician at UWS Paisley Campus, explains the benefits of the Genius NM32LA lab nitrogen generator for drug analysis.
The University of the West of Scotland, or UWS, is an institution of higher learning based in, Scotland. Across its multiple campuses in Paisley, Dumfries, Ayr, Hamilton, and most recently, London, it provides courses for a range of disciplines including, business and enterprise, science, engineering, nursing, education, and much more.
This user story comes from the scientific faculty and, in particular, Charles McGuinness, Senior Analytical Technician at UWS Paisley Campus. Charles explains how he is getting on using a Peak Genius NM32LA nitrogen generator for LC-MS, to help him make advancements in drug analysis and what he thinks of Peak's performance as a whole.

Typically what is the focus of your LC-MS analysis - what sort of applications?
"Mainly drug analysis but other novel organic compounds."
What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what LC-MS instruments do they supply?
"We have a Genius NM32LA and it supplies the Agilent LC-MS 6100."
What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used them?
"The Peak generator was chosen by Agilent but I have used Peak generators for nearly 30 years and was more than happy with their choice."
What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?
"The quality of the product and the gas purity it produces gives consistent quality analysis every time."
How would you describe your purchasing experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?
"It has as always been an excellent experience. Great service and friendly, knowledgeable staff."
Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?
"Again, the site visits are great. The engineers are friendly and do an excellent job."
Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?
"Yes, I would recommend Peak generators because if you are looking for consistent quality of gas at high purity then it has to be Peak"
Charles has used Peak gas generators for many years, and loves them for their consistent high-quality gas purity and the excellent job Peak's engineers do on site visits. The NM32LA from the Genius range, apart from being Peak's best-selling nitrogen generator, is the result of a decade’s effort to perfect on-site gas generation for LC-MS. The NM32LA can deliver up to 32 litres of nitrogen gas per minute and is suitable for most LC-MS instruments on the market today.
Having an NM32LA gas generator in your lab is the favoured alternative to pressurized gas cylinders. It will eliminate on-going administration and delivery costs and is the practical and convenient way to have gas in the lab without concerns of safety and manual handling of cylinders. The Genius range of gas generators do not require an external air supply, having high-spec internal compressors, they offer a standalone solution.
You can also protect your productivity with [Peak Protected] industry-leading generator aftersales care plans. This will give you and your lab much needed peace of mind, that if something were to go wrong with your generator, you will have a Peak certified field service engineer at your site within 72 hrs (48 hrs in some regions), to get your generator, and analysis, back up and running.
