Dr Stephen Pennington is a Professor of Proteomics in the School of Medicine within the college and he is using multiple Peak generators to supply gas to his Agilent Q-TOF and Triple Quadrupole instruments. In this latest user story, he explains his analysis and the reasoning behind his gas generator purchase.

Name: Dr Stephen Pennington

Job Title: Professor of Proteomics

Company: University College Dublin

Typically, what is the focus of your analysis - what sort of applications?

“In our lab we carry out protein biomarker discovery and biomarker candidate evaluation.”

What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what instruments do they supply?

“Several, mainly Agilent Q-Tof and triple quad instruments.”

What prompted you to choose a Peak generator and how long have you used them?

“Peak are a very good supplier and they offer efficient and reliable generators. I have used Peak gas generators for over a decade.”

What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?

“Reliability – first and foremost.”

How would you describe your purchasing experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?

“Super team. Responsive and fast. Efficient and friendly.”

Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer, if so, could you describe your experience of this support?

“No – I have not had a site visit.”

Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?

“Yes I would because Peak are a friendly company with quality generators.”

Dr Stephen has been using Peak gas technology in his lab for over 10 years now and his experience has always been that the generators are reliable and stand the test of time. Peak take great pride in each and every unit that is shipped from our ISO 9001 accredited manufacturing centre of excellence in the UK as each generator is designed and independently tested to ensure compliance with all of the applicable safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility standards.

Dr Stephen has a Genius 3010 gas generator in his lab which provides a consistent flow of nitrogen gas to his analytical instruments.  Peak’s Genius 30 series generators are engineered with an increased flow rate to assist single LC-MS instruments with a requirement for a higher nitrogen flow rate or to supply nitrogen for two instruments. The Genius 3010 unit can deliver laboratory-grade nitrogen at flow rates of up to 64 litres per minute. With minimal set up, wheels for easy manoeuvring and insulated chambers to reduce compressor noise and vibration this generator makes an ideal edition to any lab that requires nitrogen for their ‘hungrier' LC-MS applications.
