At the forefront of the rapidly expanding nicotine, NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) and e-cigarette market, Nerudia assists its clients to develop and launch new e-cigarette and nicotine products. Providing both manufacturing support as well as consultative services tailored for the nicotine market, Nerudia prides itself on its service and quality standards.

One of Nerudia’s Senior Analysts, Ian Bennington, explains how he uses Peak’s Precision series gas generators in the lab at Nerudia’s headquarters in the United Kingdom and the benefits these provide his lab when compared with gas cylinder supply.

Typically what is the focus of your GC analysis - what sort of applications?
A range of analyses from routine QC release testing to support Nerudia’s manufacturing activities, through to method development/validation and GC-MS fingerprinting.

What Peak Scientific generators do you have in your laboratory and what GC instruments do they supply?
We have a Precision Zero Air and a Precision Hydrogen 200 – these are supplying an Agilent 7820A GC-FID, which is one of the ‘workhorses’ of our laboratory, and an Agilent 7820A/5977E GC-MS.

What prompted you to choose Peak generators and how long have you used them?
Convenience and safety; there’s no need for us to have helium cylinders on site and no need to change air or helium cylinders at all, so that reduces instrument down time and cylinder manual handling risks. We’ve had our Peak generators for about three years.

What has been the key benefit of deploying Peak generators as opposed to your previous gas supply solution?
Our generators are our original gas supply solution. We had weighed up the option of using cylinders but with all the benefits a gas generator had over this gas supply method we opted to use Peak’s Precision series gas generators.

How would you describe your experience with Peak in terms of speed of response, ease of ordering, catering for your needs and timing of delivery?
My experience of Peak’s customer service has always been good.

Have you ever had a site visit from a Peak engineer? If so, could you describe your experience of this support?
Yes. The service support has always been good and the engineers are always helpful.

Would you recommend Peak Scientific generators to other laboratories - and if so, what would be your main reason for the recommendation?
Definitely more convenient and much safer than using gas cylinders.

When making their gas supply purchase, the team at Nerudia had done their research into whether gas cylinders or gas generators were the best solution for their analysis. When comparing to gas cylinders, gas generators offer numerous benefits such as consistent gas quality, workflow efficiencies from not needing to worry about gas running out during analysis and safety improvements from not having large quantities of hydrogen stored on-site & not needing to manually change over cylinders.

From Ian’s responses, it is clear that the use of Peak’s Precision gas generators has aided Nerudia’s GC analysis workflow for QC release testing, method development and GC-MS finger-printing compared with gas cylinders. Ian also mentions Peak’s renowned customer service and industry leading on-site gas generator support – providing Peak customers with friendly, local preventative maintenance and breakdown support, no matter where they are in the world.

The Precision series gas generators are Peak’s dedicated gas supply solution for GC instruments delivering hydrogen, nitrogen and zero air for all of a lab’s GC carrier, detector and make-up gases in a single space-saving stack.
