What gas can i use for ftir?

Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) - spectroscopy is used typically in testing laboratories for understanding materials and products.

Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) - spectroscopy is used typically in testing laboratories for understanding materials and products, identifying chemical compounds in solids, liquids and gases, consumer products, paints, polymers, coatings, plastics pharmaceuticals, foods and beverage – screening for impurities, deformulation, metals, contamination and toxicity.

FTIR offers quantitative and qualitative analysis for organic and inorganic samples by identifying the chemical bonds in a molecule by producing an infrared absorption spectrum. The spectra produced is a distinctive “molecular fingerprint”, detecting functional groups and characterizing covalent bonding information that can be used to screen and scan samples for many different components.

FTIR is often used in conjunction with other molecular spectroscopy techniques including Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (DRIFTS), Infrared-spectroscopy coupled to Thermogravimetric Analysis (FTIR/TGA), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR), Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS), Total organic carbon (TOC) analysis andInductively coupled plasma (ICP)-MS.

These instruments and screening techniques have a commonality, in that they all require specialty gases in-order to afford a materials molecular structure or profile.

An unwanted noise can often be caused in the infrared spectrum due to the presence of water and carbon dioxide in the way of the infrared beam. Peak Scientific manufactures gas generators for specialty applications such as FTIR - the Peak Purge Gas (PG) provides 14 – 28 LPM of purge gas free of organic contaminants. It removes moisture content (particulate < 0.01 μm, CO2 <0.1 ppm="" and="" is="" completely="" silent="" in="" operation="" the="" a="" href="/products/?model_query=ft-ir" data-mce-href="/products/?model_query=ft-ir">PG range can be supplied by your in-house air or from a small Peak Precision compressor providing a constant and consistent 24/7 gas supply for ultimate uptime and sample throughput.
